Following on from the success of our virtual tour of St. Mary's Church, Kempley, English Heritage re-commissioned 360Vision to create a similar experience for Blackfriars in Gloucester. The building, or rather collection of buildings, are fascinating, being one of the most complete surviving friaries of Dominican 'black friars' in England.

Many parts of the buildings, in particular the church, have been heavily altered over the centuries. This has left a bizarre mix of architecural styles and visual conundrums which add real intrigue to the place. Notable features include the fine scissor-braced dormitory roof and the scriptorium, possibly the oldest surviving library in the country.

Phase 1 photography is now complete and we are currently building the new
multimedia user experience of Blackfriars. This will feature full screen HD 360s, text, stills, audio files and a bespoke Flash viewing system that meets all of English Heritage’s Accessibility requirements. The new tour will be ready in Spring 2012.
